Mountain Morning

Roads sharply wind, climb

through deep rolling lands. Carpets

thick of bananas,

café, palm & bamboo, plumed

heads sodden in the still air.

A young boy stands at

the door of a lone, whitewashed

petate-mat house.

Cordillera lost

in clouds. Morning sunlight seeps

thinly, glittering

upon wet earth littered with

fallen flamboyán flowers.
